Camera traps set to track injured tiger

Mysore/Mysuru: A tiger aged seven or eight years was injured in a territorial fight at Bandipur Tiger Reserve on Wednesday. It has a big mauling wound on its back and was spotted by rangers on routine beat at Ganjikatte.

Following this, Forest Department staffs have arranged round-the-clock monitoring involving the foot staff with the help of camera traps. With injuries, the tiger is unable to hunt.

“We have started continuous monitoring of the big cat to ensure that the animal gets extra care as per National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) norms,” a press release by ACF Gundlupet said. The tiger has been identified and many camera traps are set to track the movements.
