Mysuru: With the polling coming to an end, candidates of who fought the 15th Karnataka Assembly elections were seen relaxed this morning after a month of hectic campaigning scaling the entire length and breadth of their constituencies. Counting will take place on Tuesday, May 15 and candidates have resorted to their own ways to beat anxiety.
While BJP State President and party Chief Ministerial candidate B.S. Yeddyurappa spent a relaxed morning at his Dollar’s Colony residence where he addressed a press conference exuding confidence that he will take oath as the CM on May 17, incumbent CM Siddharamaiah interacted with reporters at his T.K. Layout residence in Mysuru.
JD(S) State President H.D. Kumaraswamy flew to Singapore along with his son Nikhil Kumaraswamy to relax for two days. Party sources said that their leader is tired after hectic campaigning and needs rest. Kumaraswamy flew to Singapore last night and he is expected to visit Queen Elizabeth Hospital for a general health check-up, sources said. The JD(S) leader will return to Bengaluru tomorrow evening.
Chamundeshwari candidate G.T. Devegowda has gone to a resort in Kodagu district along with a couple of friends. Speaking to Star of Mysore from the resort, he said that he left Mysuru yesterday as he desperately needed rest after a gruelling campaign schedule. “I performed yoga, meditated and had a relaxed breakfast,” he said and added, “Many people and supporters usually throng my house for political discussions. I decided to keep away and come to Kodagu for some rest. Will be back tomorrow,” he said.

Minister Tanveer Sait spent a relaxed morning along with his family today. “I got my hair cut after a long time and I am spending my time along with party workers and family members,” he said. Incumbent Krishnaraja MLA M.K. Somashekar too was at his home spending time with his family.
Krishnaraja BJP candidate S.A. Ramdas said he got up at 4.50 am and indulged in his regular activities like bhajans, meditation and yoga. “After bath I went to Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple and performed a puja and fed grains to pigeons at Palace premises. I have to attend the wedding of a BJP worker in Hunsur in the afternoon and after returning to Mysuru, will meet party workers and leaders,” he said.
Speaking to reporters, CM Siddharamaiah said that he was constantly in touch with the party workers and a grand lunch has been arranged for them after the counting.
He too expressed confidence that Congress will attain majority. On his stint in electoral politics, Siddharamaiah said that this would be his last election. “Even if Brahma says it will be my last election. However, I will remain in active politics guiding party workers,” he said.
Earlier, Siddharamaiah tweeted: “Don’t worry about exit polls.”
Calling the exit polls “entertainment for the next 2 days”, the Chief Minister’s Sunday morning tweets exhorted party workers to “enjoy the weekend” since “we are coming back”.
“Relying on poll of polls is like a person who can’t swim crossing a river on foot relying on a statistician who told him the average depth of the river is 4 feet. So, Dear party workers, supporters & well wishers, don’t worry about exit polls. Relax & enjoy your weekend,” his tweet read.
