Madikeri: Captain Malachira A. Aiyappa, an IPS officer and native of Kodagu, has been appointed as the Joint Director at the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS).

This Bureau is an attached office of the Ministry of Civil Aviation of India, responsible for ensuring the security of civil aviation in the country.

A 2014-batch IPS Officer, Captain Aiyappa is a distinguished ex-serviceman, who previously served as the Superintendent of Police (SP) in the Karnataka Lokayukta.

Hailing from Balele village in Ponnampet taluk of Kodagu district and belonging to the Malachira family, he has had a commendable career.

He served in the Indian Army as a Short Service Commissioned Officer for 7 years before joining the Karnataka State Police force as a Deputy Superintendent of Police (Dy.SP) in 2012.

Throughout his career, Aiyappa has served in various capacities, including postings in Tumakuru, Bhatkal, Mysuru, and several other locations, as well as in the State Intelligence in Bengaluru. He also served as Kodagu SP.
