Mysuru: Fire has damaged the engine of a Tata Indica car, which was parked on New Kantharaj Urs road in Saraswathipuram here yesterday night.

The car (KA-01-MJ-6148) belonging to one Vinay Kumar of J.P. Nagar was parked on the roadside when smoke was noticed from the engine. Within seconds, fire engulfed the engine and the public immediately informed the nearby Saraswathipuram Fire Station.

Fire and Emergency Services personnel, who rushed to the spot doused the fire and prevented it from spreading further. But the fire had damaged the engine by then. Fire personnel said that the car may have caught fire due to overheat in the engine.

It may be recalled that last Saturday, a car, belonging to one Vibha of Dattagalli, which was parked in front of a hotel on the 3rd Cross in VV Mohalla, was completely gutted in a fire and the reason for the car catching fire is still not known.
