Somwarpet (Kodagu): The Junior Civil Court here has dismissed a petition filed by an advocate charging that actress and former MP Ramya had made anti-national statements.
Ramya, after retuning from a tour of Pakistan, had said that Pakistan is not hell and there are good people in Pakistan.
Katnamane Vittal Gowda, a lawyer, had filed a private complaint in the local Court on Aug.23 last year, accusing Ramya of making anti-national remarks.
Judge Shyam Prakash, who heard the case, dismissed the plea on Mar.27, it is learnt. The Court noted that Pakistan has not been considered as an ‘enemy nation’ officially and the Government too has not considered so.
Though Indian soldiers have been killed by the Pakistan army and terrorists, one cannot come to a conclusion that all people of that country are wrongdoers. ‘There is no sufficient evidence to prove the case which was booked under section 124-A and Ramya’s statements do not come under the purview of anti-national charges,’ the Court said.
Meanwhile, reacting to the Court judgement, the complainant Vittal Gowda said that he would appeal in the higher Court.
