Case registered for refusing marriage after engagement

Mysore/Mysuru: Following a complaint, Alanahalli Police have registered a case against three persons from Bengaluru for refusing marriage after engagement ceremony was conducted.

According to the complaint, Maruthi Prasad, a resident of Sheshadripuram in Bengaluru, was engaged to a girl from Giridarshini Layout in Mysuru and the engagement ceremony was performed in a grand manner at a private resort on   May 5, 2022.

Later, the groom’s side refused the marriage and though the bride’s side held talks with the groom’s side, there was no positive response from the groom’s side. Meanwhile, Maruthi Prasad had decided to get married with another girl and a wedding invitation was also printed, the complaint added.

The complaint further stated that the groom’s side had betrayed the trust by refusing to get Maruthi Prasad married to the girl he was engaged with.

Based on the complaint, Alanahalli Police have registered a case against Maruthi Prasad, Nagarjuna and Rajeshwari under IPC Sections 406, 417,  420 and 34.
