Cash, mobile phones worth Rs. 14.40 lakh stolen

Mysuru: Burglars, who gained entry into a mobile phone showroom through the terrace door, have made away with cash and mobile phones all worth Rs. 14.40 lakh.

The burglary took place at Megha Mobile Stores on K.T. Street in city.

On Nov. 16, 40-year-old Mukesh D. Singhvi, the owner of the mobile showroom left for Dubai and before leaving he had entrusted G. Chandraprakash to take care of the cash counter.

On Nov. 18, Chandraprakash kept Rs. 2.90 lakh cash in the cash counter, closed the shop for the day and went home. When he opened the shop the next day, he found Rs. 11,57,965 worth new mobile phones kept in the showcase of the shop and Rs. 2.90 lakh cash kept in the cash counter missing.

In his complaint to Mandi Police on Nov. 23, Mukesh D. Singhvi has stated that the burglars had gained entry into the shop through the terrace door on the third floor and had committed the theft.

Mandi Police, who have registered a case in this regard,  are investigating.
