Mysore/Mysuru: Stating that the construction of Construction and Demolition (C&D) Wastes Disposal Plant near Sathagalli is in progress, MCC Commissioner Shaikh Tanveer Asif said that the Plant is expected to start functioning in the next 4-5 months.

He was responding to queries at the Media Interaction Programme organised as part of ‘Swachh Survekshan 2025-26’at Sri Jayachamaraja Wadiyar Hall in MCC premises yesterday.

Stating that measures have been taken for increasing the fleet of waste collection vehicles, Asif said that the Rayanakere and Vidyaranyapuram Waste Disposal Plants are handling  200 types of dry wastes, clearing tonnes of legacy waste every day.

“The MCC is buying Jetting, De-Jetting, Compactor and other waste handling and cleaning machines at a cost of Rs. 7.50 crore, for which the tender process is underway. Heaps of legacy waste that had collected in Vidyaranyapuram Solid Waste Treatment Plant have been cleared, which has resulted in availability of 7-8 acres of land,” the MCC Commissioner noted.

World class road to be constructed

Briefing about the MCC’s plans for construction of quality and long-lasting roads, Asif said that the MCC has identified Sir Mirza Ismail Road, New Kantharaj Urs Road and Chamaraja Double Road for the purpose.

Pointing out that a Detailed Project Report (DPR) on the three roads will be prepared, he said that ultimately, one of the roads will be selected for the project after thorough studies and deliberations. “This road will be a model for all other roads in the city. The road will have a wide footpath, a cycle path, installation of benches on the roadside for relaxation, a green canopy etc.,” he pointed out.
