CDE prog. on ‘3D Printing and its Applications for Health Care’

Mysuru: A CDE programme on ‘3D Printing and its applications for Health Care” was organised by the Department of Prosthodontics and Crown and Bridge, JSS Dental College and Hospital, recently.  At the inauguration, Dr. B. Manjunatha, Registrar, JSS University and Dr. S. Ravindra, Principal, addressed the gathering.

The speakers for the scientific session were Guru Prasad Rao, Director and Mentor and Jitendra Singh, Business Development, Imaginarium India Pvt. Ltd., Mumbai, who enlightened the audience about 3D printing and its applications for health care. Demonstrations were conducted on clinical cases.

3D printing also known as additive manufacturing refers to processes used to create a 3D object in which layers of material are formed under computer central to create an object of almost any shape and geometry.

In Dentistry, 3D printing is used for fabrication of implants, surgical templates and missing orofacial structures.

The programme was attended by faculty members, undergraduates and post graduates of Dental, Medical, Pharmacy colleges and General Dental Practitioners in and around Mysuru. The CDE programme was conducted by the faculty of Department of Prosthodontics headed by Dr. M.R. Dhakshaini and Dr. Anil Kumar Gujjari, former Principal, JSS Dental College and Hospital.
