Celebration Mysuru Marathon attracts 2,850 participants

Mysuru: A total of 2,850 participants took part in the 15th edition of Celebration Mysuru Half Marathon and 10K Run organised by Life is Calling in city this morning. The half marathon was flagged off by Mysuru-Kodagu MP Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar and Apollo BGS Hospital Vice-President N.G. Bharateesh Reddy in front of Balarama Gate of Mysore Palace.

The event was organised in four categories: 21K Half Marathon, 10K Run and 5K Run/Walk. While, the 21K Half Marathon and 10K Run were organised in competitive categories, the 5K Celebration Run and Walk was non-competitive category to encourage large number of participants from Mysuru.

The event also highlighted ‘Say NO to Drugs’ message to the youth and Fit India Movement to promote fitness and healthy living.

Speaking after flagging off the event, MP Yaduveer spoke about the importance of taking part in sports in order to stay fit.

Highlighting the increase of sports activities in Mysuru in recent days, Yaduveer stressed the need to organise more such events to help build a healthier society.

Veteran Category (Above 61 Years): 1. Thiruvengadam Ashok (02:21:53), G.D. Girish (02:36:16), 3. Muralidhara Ramamurthy (02:49:16).

Half Marathon (21K) Women

Open Category (16-45 Years): 1. Rajalakshmi Swaminathan (01:46:45), 2.  Mamta Yadav 01:52:07, 3. Geetanjali Gubbewad (01:57:37).

Senior Category (46-60 Years): 1. Divya Madaiah (02:26:54), 2. Sindhu Sharma (02:49:16), 3. Sony Shahi (02:59:16).

10K Run Men

Open Category (16-45 Years): 1. K. Kiran (35:23), 2. S. Akash (36:44), 3. Dhruv  Rangain (44:27).

Senior Category (46-60 Years): 1. R.K. Murthy (42:34), 2. Sagaya Raj (46:08), 3. Prashanth (46:25).

Veteran Category (Above 61 Years): 1. Chandrasekaran Subramanian (47:06), 2. K.P. Jayaramu (58:33), 3. N. Mohan (01:04:00).

10K Run Women

Open Category (16-45 Years): 1. Anshu Pathak (45:23), 2. Clara Teusen (47:43), 3. Roshika Chengappa (50:28).
