Mysuru: Marking the centenary of Nanjaraja Bahadur Education Charity and Boarding Home and Srirama Seva Ursu Mandali, a function was organised at the former’s premises in city on Monday.
Speaking on the occasion, US entrepreneur of Mysuru origin Dr. B.N. Bahadur commended the Nanjaraja Bahadur Charity Organisation in providing scholarship to Ursu Community students and suggested them to open educational institutions for primary and secondary education.
Releasing a commemorative volume, Sri Varchaswi Siddalingaraja Urs of Manteswamy Mutt aked the community people to unite for development. He sought a good study centre to groom students for competitive examinations.
Inaugurating the programme, Yaduveer Wadiyar said that an introspection was needed to retain the organisations established hundreds of years ago by seniors and continue the activities. He opined that the present day youth should become role models for future generation.
Yaduveer unveiled a bust of Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar at the premises of the Boarding Home. Busts of Nanjaraj Bahadur and Lingajammanni were also unveiled on the occasion. Rani Dakshayani Bahadur unveiled a plan of the proposed Centenary Hall. B.N. Bahadur handed over a contribution of Rs.50 lakh to the Boarding Home. Srirama Seva Ursu Mandali President Lakshmikanth Raje Urs presided. Musician R.S. Nandakumar and others were felicitated.
Earlier to that, a puja was performed to Nandi Dwaja at Five Lights Circle near Nanjumalige and the guests were taken on a sarot in a procession to the venue of prog.
