Central Excise Futures India F2 Men’s Tennis: City’s Suraj Prabodh enters main draw

Mysuru lad Suraj R. Prabodh, representing India at the Central Excise Futures India F2 $15,000 Men’s Tennis Tournament at Bengal Tennis Club’s Courts in Kolkata yesterday, won his final qualifying round in Men’s Singles tie and entered the main draw of the Tournament.

Suraj Prabodh, in the final qualifying round, beat Tejas Chaukulkar (Ind) 6-1, 7-5 to enter the main draw in the Men’s Singles event.

In the first round, Suraj beat New Zealander Olly Sandler 5-7, 6-3, 6-1 to progress further.

Mysuru lad C. Vasisht lost to Japan’s Kazuma Kawachi 1-6, 3-6 in the first round of the qualifiers. Another Mysuru lad S.D. Prajwal Dev too lost in the first round of the qualifiers in the Men’s Singles to USA’s Jarryd Woog 3-6, 6-3, 1-6.

Seven other players, Dalwinder Singh, Abhinav Sanjeev Shanmugham, Kunal Anand, Nicholas Bybel, Kazuma Kawachi, Mohit Mayur Jayaprakash and Paramveer Singh Bajwa qualified to the main draw in the Men’s Singles event with Suraj Prabodh.

Spain’s Carlos Boluda Purkiss is the top-seed while India’s Sasi Kumar Mukund is seeded second in the Men’s Singles event.
