January 5, 2026

Mysore/Mysuru: Central Government Pensioners Association (CGPA), Mysuru, celebrated Pensioners Day at a function organised at Sadvidya School premises in city recently.

The programme commenced with an official inauguration by the members, followed by an address from Association President P.M. Parameshwaraiah on the historical significance of Pensioners Day.

As part of the celebration, S.J. Vijay Keerthy, Retired Senior Technical Officer at Defence Food Research Laboratory (DFRL), Mysuru and his wife were felicitated.

A practitioner of Yoga, Vijay Keerthy delivered a talk, expressing his keen interest in training fellow pensioners. He emphasised that since the members share similar life stages, the environment is ideal for safe, peer-to-peer wellness training.

Dr. Vasanth Kumar Mysoremath, a promoter of Environmental Science, spoke on the vital link between nature and healthy living. He added a creative touch to the session by performing a song dedicated to soil conservation and a safe environment.

Srimathi Hariprasad highlighted the importance of supporting “single-person pensioners,” urging the Association to ensure these members are safeguarded by the community. Dr. Bhadri, retired from ASI, also spoke.

There was a strong consensus to integrate cultural activities into the CGPA’s regular schedule. In response, Association Treasurer R. Gopinath announced the creation of a new “CGPA Cultural Group” to provide a platform for members to showcase their talents.
