Two books of Prof. Maleyuru Guruswamy released
Mysuru: Samvahana Prakashana along with District Kannada Sahitya Parishat had organised a programme at Rajendra Bhavan in JSS Hospital premises for the release of two books written by Prof. Maleyuru Guruswamy here recently.
The books ‘Kapile Haridalu Kadalige’ and ‘Charithreya Putakke Ondu Tippani’ were released by Writer K. Veerabhadrappa.
Releasing the books, Veerabhadrappa opined that the Union Government should honour the multi-lingual society of the country instead of attempting to enforce compulsory learning of the national language Hindi. He added that such a compulsion in Southern States would have repercussion on the government.
He pointed out that a good writer should voice against harassment on women and the downtrodden. He commended the works of Prof. Maleyuru Guruswamy, which highlights the achievement of a Devadasi woman Nagarathnamma from Nanjangud which speaks on respect for Devadasis. He added that Nagarathnamma became a great musician in Tamil Nadu and strove for the welfare of Devadasis and also excelled as a writer.
Sanskrit University Vice-Chancellor Dr. Padma Shekar presided. Former Member of Kannada Sahitya Academy Mahesh Harave spoke on the books. District Kannada Sahitya Parishat President Dr.Y.D. Rajanna, Samvahana Prakashana’s publisher D.N. Lokappa and writer Prof. Maleyuru Guruswamy were present.
