KDEM & VVCE sign Memorandum of Understanding
Mysore/Mysuru: Karnataka Digital Economy Mission (KDEM), a subsidiary organisation of the Government of Karnataka, has come forward to train students in the semiconductor sector.
At the recently held Big Tech Show at Hotel Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel in city, as a prelude to the Bengaluru Technology Summit to be held in November, KDEM and Vidyavardhaka College of Engineering (VVCE) signed an agreement in this regard to set up a Centre of Excellence (CoE) at the College premises with an aim to train students of Electronics and Communication Department from across Karnataka.
IT-BT Minister Dr. C.N. Ashwathnarayan said, “More than 230 companies in the Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) sector have already established in Mysuru and are operating and making a turnover of over Rs. 10,000 crore per annum.
After the programme, VVCE Secretary P. Vishwanath said, “Prestigious companies such as L&T and Wurth Electronics have already opened their CoEs at Vidyavardhaka and hundreds of students are being trained to acquire skills required for the semiconductor sector.”
He said that the partnership with KDEM will benefit students of Karnataka and Mysuru with a favourable environment and quality engineering graduates to become the next semiconductor fab city.
VVCE President Gundappa Gowda, Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Electronics, IT, BT, Science & Technology Dr. E.V. Ramana Reddy, Director, Department of Electronics, IT & BT Meena Nagaraj, KDEM Chairman B.V. Naidu, Deputy High Commissioner, British High Commission Andrew Fleming, MP Pratap Simha and others were present on the occasion.
