Mysuru: Certificates in Computer courses under Pratham held at MEWA, Urdu courses conducted by Idara e Adbiyat Urdu, Hyderabad and Islamic GK Test by Mohammed Ebrahim Khan Foundation held at different centres in city were distributed at MEWA, Shanthinagar, on Saturday.
Mushtaq Sayeed, Member, Karnataka Urdu Academy and writer, poet and columnist, was feted on the occasion by Aejaz Ahmed Sharieff and Mir Sarfaraz ur Rahman. In his address, Mushtaq Sayeed appreciated the services of MEWA to the downtrodden people of the area. He assured financial help from the Academy for teaching Urdu.
Chief guest Prof. Afroze Ahmed spoke about the importance of Urdu and the necessity of learning one’s mother-tongue.
Corporator Ayaz Pasha promised to help the computer trained students in getting jobs and lauded MEWA for imparting training to women irrespective of religion.
Mir Sarfaraz ur Rahman, Founder-Member, who also teaches Functional Arabic, explained the services of MEWA to the poor people. The programme presided by Aejaz Ahmed Sharieff started with Quranic verses by Habibunnisa, Hamd by Bi Bi Hajira, Naat by Mehek Bano.
On behalf of students, Shabrin Bano in Kannada, L. Huda, Saniya Kouser, Muskan Bano, Dr. Khurram Pasha shared their experiences.
Nyamthulla Khan, organiser of the Urdu courses, welcomed and compered. Sheikh Abdul Munaf, Secretary, proposed a vote of thanks. Rotarian Syed Ismail, Anwer Pasha, retired DTO, Dr. Khurram Pasha, Younis Khan and Syeda Nusrath Afza of Salehat Women Welfare Centre, were present.
