CFTRI Research Scholars take out silent march

Mysuru: As part of the nationwide stir seeking a hike in fellowship, nearly 30 Research Scholars of CSIR-CFTRI took out a silent protest march in city this morning.

The march which began from the main gate of CFTRI on KRS Road, passed through Dasappa Circle, Metropole Circle and Vinoba Road to reach the Deputy Commissioner’s office, where a memorandum was presented.

The Research Scholars, apart from seeking a hike in fellowship, are also demanding an increase of Non-NET Fellowship tenure from the existing 3+1 to 4+1 years, regular and timely disbursement of fellowship through a web-based fellowship assessment portal and a centralised regulatory body for continuous evaluation of fellowships, among others.

Maintaining that tuition-fee, hostel and amenities charges, mess charges etc., are increasing year by year, the Research scholars claimed that a hike in fellowship was most needed for their day-to-day expenditure.

Abdullah, Hitesh, Yogitha, Jyothi, Lavanya, Gopika and others took part in the protest march.
