Mysore/Mysuru: On the occasion of ‘CGK Beedhi Ranga Dina,’ senior theatre artistes K.R. Sumathi and Prasad Kundur were conferred with ‘CGK Award’ by senior Writer Prof. Aravinda Malagatti at a programme organised by Nele Hinnele in association with Karnataka Ranga Parishad and Karnataka Beedhi Nataka Academy at Natana Rangashale premises in Ramakrishnanagar recently.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Malagatti lauded the contributions of CGK. “Theatre students should read CGK’s autobiography. CGK was one of the best directors in theatre field. He also had special interest about Sharana literature,” he said.

“This Corona pandemic is neither a curse nor a boon. Many have started writing poems and posting it on social networking sites. In earlier times at villages,  people used to pray ‘Agaaga Baravaagi Baa Shivane’ to teach a lesson to arrogant rich persons. Now, Corona is haunting everyone as a poison and wish this does not recur,” he said.

Lauding the district administration’s efforts to set up Digital Library, he said, “Now, it is said that the money earmarked for purchasing of books in Public Libraries is being spent on Digital Library. In that case, it would badly affect the printing. Hence, the Government should provide separate grants for Digital Library.”

Theatre artistes Mandya Ramesh, former Rangayana Director Janardhan, K.R. Gopalkrishna of Nele Hinnele, Devanand Varaprasad, Disha, Sameera and others were present.
