Rs. 13.50 lakh worth gold chains recovered

Mysore/Mysuru: Vidyaranyapuram Police have arrested four chain snatchers and have recovered seven gold chains weighing 300 grams and worth Rs. 13.50 lakh, besides seizing three two-wheelers used for the crime and five mobile phones from them.

Following the arrest, the Police have solved one case each in Saraswathipuram, Lakshmipuram and Vijayanagar Police Stations and two cases each in Vidyaranyapuram and Kuvempunagar Police Stations.

Out of the four accused who have been arrested, one of them is the prime accused who was involved in cheating and bike lifting cases in Vidyaranyapuram, Hebbal, Narasimharaja (NR) and Mandi Police limits.

Vidyaranyapuram Police, on June 5, who were investigating a chain snatching case, which occurred on May 30, found two persons on a bike moving around suspiciously on Srirampura Ring Road and took them into custody.

During interrogation, the Cops came to know that the two were involved in the chain snatching incident in Vijayanagar and on further questioning, the two accused are said to have informed the Police that they along with two others had snatched gold chains in various City Police limits. Based on the information provided by the accused, the Police arrested two others on June 12 and recovered seven gold chains besides seizing three  two-wheelers and five mobile phones from them.

DCP (Crime and Traffic) M.S. Geetha Prasanna and K.R. Sub-Division ACP Poornachandra Tejaswi guided Vidyaranyapuram Inspector G.C. Raju, Sub-Inspectors N.V. Rangaswamy and Siddabai Mamadapur, Assistant Sub-Inspector Mariswamy and staff Ramesh, Maheshwar, Nataraju, K. Sridharmurthy, S. Ravi, Sunil Kumar, Narayana Shetty, Srinivas, Venkatesh, Suresh, Ranjith Kumar, Rajesh, Naveen, Dhananjaya,  Meghanayak and Somashekar Nayak in the nabbing, recovery and seizing operation.
