Mysuru: Confusion among party workers regarding the Chamaraja Constituency JD(S) candidate for the forthcoming Assembly elections will be cleared within a week when the party candidate will be officially announced, said JD(S) State President H.D. Kumaraswamy.
Addressing a party workers’ meet at a private hotel in Hebbal after his visit to Suttur Mutt to seek the blessings of Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji yesterday, Kumaraswamy assured the party workers that the name of the candidate will be announced within a week.
In their plea to Kumaraswamy, party workers said that JD(S) district President K. Harish Gowda was an aspirant for Chamaraja ticket and he had made his intention clear to the party High Command. Meanwhile, the name of former Vice-Chancellor of Mysore University Prof. K.S. Rangappa was doing rounds after he joined the JD(S). This had resulted in confusion among the party workers, they told Kumaraswamy.
Party workers told the former CM that the atmosphere was conducive for the JD(S) to come to power as the people were fed up of Congress and BJP Governments.
They suggested to him that the JD(S) must make use of this opportunity and field competent candidates for the party to bounce back to power. They further told him that their aim was to see him (Kumaraswamy) as the Chief Minister.
Giving a patient ear to the party workers, Kumaraswamy said that he would put to rest to all confusion and party workers must fight united to ensure the victory of JD(S) candidates. Mentioning that a party was important than an individual, the former CM called upon the party workers to bring back JD(S) to power so that all sincere workers could get opportunities.
Mayor M.J. Ravikumar, former Mayors R. Lingappa, Rajeshwari Somu, former Deputy Mayor V. Shailendra, Corporators K.T. Cheluvegowda, M. Shivanna, SBM Manju, K.V. Mallesh, Ramani, Balu and JD(S) Women’s Wing President Prema Shankaregowda were present.
