Mysore/Mysuru: The first ever Kannada Sahitya Sammelana of Chamaraja Assembly Constituency will be held on Feb. 8 at Kalamandira.
Addressing media persons at Pathrakartara Bhavan in city yesterday, Kannada Sahitya Parishat Mysuru City President K.S. Shivaram said that former Vice-Chancellor Dr. K. Chidananda Gowda will chair the event.
The Sahitya Sammelan will begin with National Flag Hoisting at Karnataka Ratna De.Ja.Gow. Vedike, Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar Auditorium, at 8.30 am. Chamaraja MLA K. Harishgowda will hoist the National Flag, Parishat District President Maddikere Gopal will hoist State Flag and City President K.S. Shivaram will unfurl the Parishat Flag.
MCC Deputy Commissioner B.S. Somashekar will be the chief guest. University of Mysore (UoM) Department of Physical Education (DPE) Director C. Venkatesh will be present. Sammelana President Prof. Chidananda Gowda will be brought in a procession from Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple, Palace North Gate, to Kalamandira at 9 am. MCC Commissioner Ashaad-Ur-Rahman Shariff, City Police Commissioner Ramesh Banoth and MUDA Commissioner G.T. Dinesh Kumar will be the chief guests. Later, the stage programme will be inaugurated by Prof. M. Krishnegowda at 11 am. District Minister Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa will preside.
The book ‘Dashakagala Sahityada Mogasaaleyalli,’ written by Jayaprakash Rao, will be released by Karnataka Sahitya Academy former Chairman Prof. Aravinda Malagathi while former MLA Dr. Yathindra Siddaramaiah will release the book ‘Darshanika Kuvempu’ authored by Prof. Y.S. Gowramma. This will be followed by Dr. Chidananda Gowda’s speech.
The Sammelana will feature discussions and kavighosti on the topic ‘Kannada-Kannadiga- Karnataka: Sthiti-Gathi.’
The organisers will also felicitate eminent personalities on the occasion. The event will end with a valedictory ceremony at 5.30 pm. Senior writer Dr. Kabbinale Vasanth Bharadwaj will deliver the valedictory address. Dr. Chidananda Gowda will also speak on the occasion. MLA K. Harishgowda will preside.
Senior writer Dr. C.P. Krishnakumar (CPK) and University of Mysore Registrar V.R. Shylaja will be the special invitees. Legislators G.T. Devegowda, A.H. Vishwanath, Dr. D. Thimmaiah will be the chief guests.
Various Committees have been formed to ensure the success of the event which is being held at the time when Karnataka is celebrating its Golden Jubilee.
