Sammelana: Traffic restrictions

Mysuru: The Mysuru City Police are putting in place proper Traffic and Law and Order regulations as thousands of people will be visiting the city to attend the 83rd Kannada Sahitya Sammelana from Nov.24 to 26 at the Maharaja’s College Grounds.

As a precautionary measure and to see that no untoward incidents occur, the Police Department has made all bandobust arrangements.

Nearly 900 Police Officers and staff have been deployed for the bandobust. Apart from this, seven KSRP contingent, eight CRP Contingent and five Emergency Fire Service and six Ambulance vans are being commissioned.

Traffic restrictions

In order to see that there is no disruption in the smooth flow of vehicles, traffic curbs have been imposed and parking arrangements made.

On the days during the Sammelana, between Nov. 24 and 26, every day from 9 am to 11 pm all traffic has been banned on the stretch between Kautilya Circle and Ekalavya Circle on Krishnaraja Boulevard.

Parking arrangements

The parking places identified for the vehicles coming to attend the Sammelana are as follows:

  1. Behind Maharaja’s College Grounds Main Stage: VVIP vehicles, Ambulance, Fire Tender, vehicles of artistes participating in the performances.
  2. Ursu Boarding School premises: VVIP vehicles.
  3. Maharaja’s College Grounds opposite to Gymnasium: Media vehicles.
  4. Maharaja’s College Centenary Hall premises: Public Light Motor Vehicles and two-wheelers.
  5. Yuvaraja’s College premises: Public Light Motor Vehicles and two-wheelers.
  6. Maharaja’s Junior /Maharani’s College premises: Tempo Travellers/Buses.
  7. Oval Grounds: Public Light Motor Vehicles and two-wheelers.

City Police Commissioner Dr. A.  Subrahmanyeswara Rao has requested the public to park their vehicles in the places earmarked for them and cooperate with the Police for the smooth conduct of the Sammelana, according to a press release from the Police Commissioner’s Office.
