Mysuru: Chamarajanagar ZP President and KPCC General Secretary M. Ramachandra will join the BJP in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the public rally to take place at Maharaja’s College Grounds here this afternoon.
Announcing this at a press meet here yesterday, M. Ramachandra said that he would quit Congress and also resign as Chamarajanagar ZP President before joining the BJP.
Explaining the reasons for his quitting the Congress, Ramachandra said that he was very much hopeful that the NDA Government headed by PM Modi would bring Parivar and Talwar communities under the ST list.
Alleging that the Congress Government was rendering local bodies inactive by cutting grants and funds, he said that he would contest from H.D. Kote (ST) constituency if the BJP gives him the party ticket.
Meanwhile, former Minister and senior BJP leader V. Somanna, who also addressed the press meet, said that he was ready to contest from Chamundeshwari if the BJP top brass asked him to.
Pointing that he has more than four years of his MLC term, Somanna said that he was however willing to contest the forthcoming Assembly polls from any constituency if asked by the BJP top brass.
Accusing the Siddharamaiah Government of dividing the society on caste and communal lines, he said that the Siddharamaiah Govt. would be thrown out in the Assembly polls.
MLA C.P. Yogeshwar, former MLAs Bharati Shankar and Nanjundaswamy, leader Hemanth Kumar Gowda and others were present.
