Mysore/Mysuru: Champaka Educational and Cultural Trust, Mysuru, has embarked on an ambitious initiative to conduct monthly cultural events to showcase Indian performing arts under the banner ‘Champaka Rashtreeya Kalaa Utsava.’
The first edition in this series — the Ashada edition — will be held on Saturday (July 8) at 5 pm at Champaka Academy in Ramakrishnanagar. This edition will feature Bharatanatyam performances by leading exponents and Gurus of Mysuru and Bengaluru.
Performing artistes include Karnataka Kalashri Dr. K. Kumar and his disciples — Guru Dr. K. Kumar is the Professor and Head of the Department of Dance, University College of Fine Arts, University of Mysore (UoM) and the Founder of Kumar Performing Arts Centre (KPAC), Mysuru.
Disciples of Karnataka Kalashiri Vidya Ravishankar, a leading exponent of Mysuru Bani Bharatanatyam and the Founder of Sri Matruka Cultural Trust, Bengaluru, will also perform in the event.
Disciples of Vidushi Nagal-akshmi Nagarajan, Founder of Champaka Academy, will give a performance supported by Vidushi Shruthi Prasad on vocal, Vidwan Kiran on mridanga and Vidwan Shrinidhi on flute.
Dr. Rama V. Bennur, Musician, Art Critic and the President of Ganabharathi, will be the chief guest for the event.
