Mysore/Mysuru: The Changeover Switch Board panel at Mysuru ZP Office here was destroyed by a minor fire that broke out yesterday morning, causing panic among local residents.

At about 7 am, security personnel heard bursting sounds coming from the switch board room and on inspecting the room they noticed continuous sparks emanating from the Electric Panel Board and informed CESC authorities. But even before CESC authorities could arrive at the spot, the sparks developed into fire, resulting in burning of four switch boxes in the Panel Board, while four others were partially burnt. The CESC authorities immediately disconnected the power supply. The fire is said to have been caused by a short circuit in the Panel Board, which is meant for connecting the generator with power lines.

CESC authorities are carrying out repairs and working towards restoring power in the ZP office as early as possible.
