Rs. 83.54 Vs Rs. 95 to Rs. 120 per litre; Fuel shortage at some petrol bunks
Mysore/Mysuru: Long queues of autorickshaws were witnessed at the IndianOil dealer Ganesh Petrol Bunk at the Dhanvanthri Road junction, with drivers lining up from as early as 5 am today to fill auto LPG.
The queue of autos stretched for nearly 3-km, extending from Ganesh Petrol Bunk through Dewan’s Road, Vinoba Road in front of Nanjaraja Bahadur Choultry, JLB Road, Dasappa Circle and back to Dhanvanthri Road.
The rush was attributed to the lower price of auto LPG at the outlet, which is selling at Rs. 83.54 per litre, compared to higher rates charged by private players — THINK Gas (Rs. 95), Total Gas (Rs. 120) and Gogas (Rs. 115) per litre.
The LPG load reached the bunk only at around 12.45 pm, after which staff began dispensing fuel.
A similar scene was witnessed at the auto LPG station near the historic Elgin Fountain Circle on the Mysuru-Bengaluru Road, where autos were lined up from the station along Shivaji Road up to the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Statue.
Petrol shortage at some bunks
Meanwhile, a few State-run petrol bunks reported running out of petrol amid surging demand.
With private outlets charging higher prices, most motorists were seen thronging fuel stations operated by IndianOil Corporation Limited (IOCL), Hindustan Petroleum (HP) and Bharat Petroleum (BP), leading to shortages.
A petrol bunk, opposite the Mysore Tennis Club on Krishnaraja Boulevard, ran dry this morning, forcing motorists to rush to other outlets.
A dealer said that while fuel depots are supplying regular daily loads, no additional supply is being provided to meet the increased demand. As a result, some fuel stations have run dry and will resume supply once fresh stocks arrive.
