Cheque bounce case: City Court slaps Rs. 5,000 fine on Constable

Mysuru:  The Fifth Additional First Civil Court in city has slapped a fine of Rs.5,000 on a Police Constable in a cheque bounce case.

The Police Constable, who has been penalised, has been identified as G.S. Kumar of Devaraja Police Station. Kumar had taken a loan of Rs.3.25 lakh from Contractor N.C. Francis and had given a cheque to Francis for the repayment. When Francis presented the cheque to the bank for the repayment, the bank officials did not make the payment as Kumar had asked the bank officials for ‘Stop Payment.’ Following non-payment of the money, Francis registered a case in the Court. Judge Bheemappa Mola, who heard the arguments, imposed affine of Rs.5,000 on the Constable to be paid to the State and ordered Constable Kumar to pay Rs.3.25 lakh to Contractor Francis.
