Chess: Mohite holds Thejkumar to a draw

Delhi: Maharashtra’s Mohite Ranveer (Rating 2089) held Grand Master M.S. Thejkumar of Mysuru to a creditable drawn in the seventh round of the Commonwealth Open Chess Championship 2018 held at Delhi on Sunday.

After seven rounds, GM Thejkumar of Railways has secured 4 points and is placed 53rd in the rankings. GM Vaibhav Suri of Delhi and IM S. Nitin of Railways are in the joint lead with six points from seven rounds. GM Lalith Babu, GM Debashis Das and Sankalp Guta are tied with 5.5 points each and are placed from third to fifth in the rankings.

In the Girls U-12 section, Mysuru girl Prasiddhi Bhat has secured 3 points from five rounds and is placed 18th in the rankings. In the Girls U-10 section, Mandya’s WCM A.N. Shefali has secured 4 points from five rounds and is placed sixth in the rankings. Mandya’s D. Jaanvi (3 points-22nd), B.N. Avantika (3 points-23rd), G. Spoorvika (2.5 pts-32nd), Mysuru’s Sharadhi Shastry (2.5 points-33rd) and Yashika R. Joshi (2 points-35th) are faring well in the Tournament.
