Chidambaram’s ED custody extended till Oct. 30

New Delhi:  The Special CBI Court yesterday extended the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) custody of former Union Minister P. Chidambaram in the INX Media case till Oct. 30. The investigating agency had sought an extension of Chidambaram’s custody as his 7-day custody ended yesterday.

Special Judge Ajay Kumar Kuhar allowed the ED to quiz Chidambaram and said that he be taken to AIIMS immediately in case of any medical complication. The Court said that the other conditions of his custody will be the same, including on providing him home-cooked food.

Chidambaram, who spent a fortnight in Police custody after his arrest, was thereafter remanded to Judicial custody. His plea for regular bail was rejected by Special CBI Court. Later, the Delhi HC had also denied him bail. He was arrested by ED on Oct. 16 after he was granted regular bail in CBI case by Apex  Court.
