‘Chidananda Awards’ conferred on achievers in city

Mysore/Mysuru: Three distinguished persons were conferred with ‘Chidananda Awards’ at a function organised at Rajendra Bhavan in JSS Hospital premises here on Sunday. The awards are given by Bengaluru’s Chidananda Prashasti Pradhana Samithi every year.

Those who were awarded are: Historian and Archaeologist  Dr. M.S. Krishnamurthy (for the year 2020),  Haridasa Liter-ature Research Scholar Dr. T.N. Nagarathna (for the year 2021) and Community Studies Research Scholar Dr. B.K. Pra-natartiharan (for the year 2022).

Chidananda Prashasti Pradhana Samithi is giving Chidananda Awards every year, for achievers in various fields in the name of famous research scholar late Dr. M. Chidananda Murthy.  As the awards were not presented for the last two years due to COVID pandemic, the awards for 3 years were presented on Sunday.

Dr. M.S. Krishnamurthy could not take part in the function as he was away in America and the award was received on his behalf by his elder sister Uma S. Rao and nephew Uday Shastri.

Scholar Dr. T.V. Venkatachala Shastry, who presided said that it is commendable that research scholars are being identified for their services and conferred with awards in the name  of late Dr. Chidananda Murthy, who himself was a great research scholar.  This award has become a source of inspiration for other research scholars to become achievers in their fields.

Dr. Venkatachala Shastry was felicitated on the occasion on receiving the Nadoja Award recently. Samithi President C.U. Manjunath, Secretary Dr. S.L. Srinivasamurthy and others were present.
