A match winning goal by right-out Chandan (43rd min) helped PES College, Mandya, to register a narrow 1-0 win over St. Joseph’s FGC, Hassan in the semi-final league tie in Chief Justice Hombegowda Memorial Gold Cup Inter-collegiate football tournament tie played at the University football grounds here on Thursday.
In the other league games, MICA and Sapient College of Commerce and Management were involved in a 1-1 drawn tie. Joshua Rohan scored for MICA in the 3rd minute while the equaliser was scored for Sapient College by Steiner Wilchrist in the 20th minute.
In the afternoon session, Sapient College of Commerce and Management and PES (Mandya) were involved in a 1-1 draw encounter. Nandan of PES (Mandya) scored in the 35th minute while Jeevan George equalised in the 45th minute of the game.
MICA and St. Joseph’s FC were involved in a 0-0 goalless draw in the last game in the evening. The finals is slated to be held on Friday evening. The prizes will be distributed to the winners by M. P. Nabhiraj, Retd. Swimming Coach, University of Mysore.
