Urges scribes to provide useful inputs to society
Bengaluru: The Department of Information and Public Relations, Government of Karnataka, had organised a programme at Kanteerava Studio premises here yesterday to distribute media kits to as many as 605 Backward Class journalists of the State.
Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, who spoke after distributing free laptops, cameras and other equipment useful for journalists said that media, be it print or electronic, play a huge role in social reformation.
Stating that it is the first time that the BJP Government has initiated distribution of media kits among journalists, CM Bommai said that journalists must make good use of the gadgets provided and work proactively. “It is the duty of media persons to not just collect information, but also gather inputs useful for the people in the society and educate people with such details. It is necessary for a journalist to work towards social reformation and struggle for organising systems in the society.
Mysuru District Journalists Association (MDJA) President S.T. Ravikumar, Star of Mysore Photojournalist M.N. Lakshminarayana Yadav and Karnataka Union of Working Journalists (KUWJ) State Executive Committee Member from Mysuru B. Raghavendra were among the 22 journalists from Mysuru who received the media kits from the Chief Minister.
Former CM D.V. Sadananda Gowda, Department of Information and Public Relations General Secretary Manjunath Prasad, Commissioner Dr. P.S. Harsha, Joint Director D.P. Muralidhar, Officers of various Departments and senior journalists were present on the occasion.
