Child prodigy recites 700 shlokas, clears Gita Jnana Yajna exam

Mysuru:  The seven-year-old child prodigy from the city, Abhideya Anand has passed the Gita Jnana Yajna exam of reciting the entire Gita with perfect pronunciation at Sri Sharadamba Temple in Sringeri Mutt. She had completed memorising the entire Gita when she was just five-years-old.

Sri Bharathi Theertha Swamiji and Sri Vidushekara Swamiji presented her with a certificate and a prize amount of Rs. 21,000.

Abhideya was inspired by her brother Abhigya to complete the feat of reciting the entire 700 shlokas of Bhagavad Gita.

The little genius, though is home-schooled, has however been enrolled in a local Kannada Medium Government School. She has shown keen interest in learning the Sanskrit language and is also learning Karnatak music and Bharatnatyam.

Her other interests include cooking and giving lectures on dangers of junk food like her brother, apart from identifying many herbs and their healing properties.
