Children portray environment protection through drawings

Mysuru: District Administration, Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) and other organisations together had organised a Drawing Contest for school students at Kalamandira premises here on Saturday under the theme ‘Prevent Air Pollution’.

Over 120 students from Kautilya Vidyalaya, Avila Convent, Royal Concorde, Christ Public School, Kendriya Vidyalaya, Bhagini Seva Samaja and other schools participated in the event. About 35 students participated in the essay contest also held on the same theme.

The contests were held under three categories — Primary, Higher Primary and High School. Primary was excluded for essay writing. Three prizes will be given in each category. All the participating children were given tiffin boxes, water bottles and beverages along with chocolates.

KSPCB Mysuru Regional Officer A. Uday Kumar launched the contest. Environment Officer B.H. Prakash said that the prizes will be distributed on June 5 at a function to be held at Institute of Engineers on JLB Road here.

Janajagruthi Rural Development Institute Executive Director V.N. Murthy, Environment Officer B.P. Geetha, Deputy EO Manjunath, Assistant EO Nubia, Ashwini and others were present.
