Children throw light on air pollution through drawings

Mysuru:  On account of World Environment Day, the Forest Department had organised a drawing contest for school students at Lingambudhi Lake Park in Ramakrishnanagar here on Sunday.

Over 250 students of various schools participated in the event under the theme ‘Beat Air Pollution.’ The children in the age group of 5 to 15 years excellently portrayed the gravity of air pollution, ill-effects of that on biosphere, spoilage of Ozone layer and environmental imbalance.

PCCF (Project Tiger) Jagath Rao, launching the contest, asked people to become aware of the incessant air pollution.

He opined that such drawing contests would make children understand the ill-effects of pollution. DCF Dr. K.C. Prashant Kumar said that ‘Air Pollution’ will be the theme of discussion during World Environment Day. He added that deforestation was also hampering environment protection and appreciated the concept of drawing on the subject in natural surroundings. ACF Kripanidhi, RFOs Govindaraj and Devaraj and others were present.
