Children, women found begging rescued

Mysore/Mysuru: The sleuths of Anti Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU), City Police and Special Juvenile Police Unit with the help of District Child Protection Unit and Child Helpline, who conducted a joint operation, have rescued six children and two women, who were indulged in begging.

The drive was held at various traffic signal junctions, prominent circles and roads in city from 11 am to 4 pm yesterday

While the children have been handed over to the Boys and Girls Balamandiras, the women have been handed over to Sthree Sevanikethana.

DCP (Crime and Traffic) M.S. Geetha Prasanna and Devaraja Sub-Division ACP M.N. Shashidhar guided the team in the drive.

Women’s Police Station Inspector Arunakumari, AHTU Sub-Inspector Jyothirao, Kuvempunagar Assistant Sub-Inspector Kantharaju and staff C.S. Rukminiamma, Raju, Lokesh, Chaitra, Ashwini, Shivakumar, Latha, Shwetha, Davalabi Walikar and Shobha, District Child Protection Unit’s Bhaskar, Childline-1098’s Ganesh, Mathew of an NGO and Mary took part in the operation to rescue the begging children and women.
