Mysore/Mysuru: The application forms for ‘Chinnara Mela’, the popular annual Children’s summer camp (22nd edition) organised by the city’s theatre repertory Rangayana, was sold out under 90 minutes at Rangayana office counter in Kalamandira premises on Hunsur Road this morning.
The Rangayana had earlier declared that it will be issuing only 250 application forms from 10 am today (Apr.5) for admitting 250 children.
Accordingly, the parents of children had lined up before Rangayana since the wee hours of this morning for getting the application forms. The issuance of application forms, priced at Rs.100, began at 10 am and all 250 of them were sold out by around 11.25 am and the applications were issued based on first-come, first-serve basis, with the distribution of only one application to a person.
However, the demand for application forms was far less when compared to previous years, when parents used to enter into arguments with the counter staff after failing to get application forms despite standing in queues for hours.
But this year, the picture seemed to be entirely different, with almost all those standing in the queue, succeeding in getting the application forms, with only a handful of them returning disappointed after the application forms were declared sold out in full, it is learnt.
Some parents were also seen venting out their unhappiness with the hike in fees this year, which has been fixed at Rs. 4,000.
This year’s Chinnara Mela will be held from Apr.14 to May.10 in Rangayana premises.
The admission is open for children aged between 7 and 15 years (as on Mar. 31, 2026) and the admission is limited to 250 children.
The parents are required to submit the filled-in application forms along with all necessary documents and fee before 5pm on Apr. 9 at Rangayana office.
