May 26, 2024

Mysore/Mysuru: In a proactive move to combat the spread of cholera and other waterborne diseases in the district, District Health Officer (DHO) Dr. P.C. Kumaraswamy conducted a video conference with taluk-level Health Officials from his office in Nazarbad yesterday.

Dr. Kumaraswamy reported that no new cases of cholera or gastroenteritis had been identified in K. Salundi village,  Mysuru taluk, where a 22-year-old individual had tragically succumbed to cholera earlier this week and in surrounding areas in the past 24 hours.

However, instances of vomiting, diarrhoea and other bacterial infections are being observed across various parts of the district. Assuring readiness, Dr. Kumaraswamy affirmed that Health authorities are fully equipped to provide treatment to affected individuals.

He highlighted the preparedness of healthcare facilities including the District Hospital, K.R. Hospital, General Hospitals, Primary Health Centres (PHCs) and Community Health Centres (CHCs) to handle                                        any emergencies.

Dr. Kumaraswamy stressed the importance of preventing water contamination and maintaining hygiene, as contaminated water remains a significant factor in the transmission of such ailments. Taluk-level health officials have received clear directives regarding measures to curb the spread of cholera and similar bacterial diseases, he added.
