City boy wins gold in International Targetball Achievers Cup

Mysore/Mysuru: City boy M. Dhanush has bagged a gold medal in the 1st International Targetball Achievers Cup-2022, organised by International Targetball Federation at Dhaka, Bangladesh, between Aug. 5 and Aug. 9.

Targetball is a combination sport of handball and basketball. This mixed sport was introduced by the head of Indian Targetball Association of Haryana Sonu Sharma in the year 2012.

Dhanush created history by defending 13 out of 14 goals as a defender and played a major role for the team’s victory.

Dhanush, son of Mallikaraju and Geetha couple of Huyilalu village, Yelwal Hobli, is a student of Gopalaswamy Shishuvihara College. Having interest in sports since childhood, Dhanush was very keen to pursue sports apart from his academic activities.

Speaking to Star of Mysore, the 19-year-old Dhanush said, “I never thought in my wildest dreams that I would achieve at the international level. Rural athletes getting a chance to compete in sports and represent India in the international level is a very good thing. I was happy to see the Tricolour hoisted in the tournament.”
