Mysuru:  A cable operator from city committed suicide by consuming poison at a lodge in Nanjangud town this morning.

The deceased has been identified as G.R. Babu (43), son of Rangaswamy and a resident of Halebandikeri in city.

Babu, after checking into a room at a lodge near the private bus stand in Nanjangud yesterday afternoon, reportedly left for Chamarajanagar on some work and returned to the room in the evening. As Babu did not come out of the room even after repeated calls by the room boys this morning, the Police were informed of the matter.

The Police, who rushed to the lodge, forced open the door only to find Babu lying dead on the cot with an empty packet of poison lying close to him.

Nanjangud Town Police, who have registered a case in this regard are investigating.
