City doctor gets recognition for AI-based Colonoscopy Research

Mysore/Mysuru: A research paper that explores the benefits of AI in patients undergoing Colonoscopy in the Department of Gastroenterology, Apollo BGS Hospital, Mysuru, has won the Outstanding Poster Award in the recently held Annual Conference of the American College of Gastroenterology at Vancouver, Canada.

The paper was presented by Dr. Rajkumar P. Wadhwa, Head, Department of Gastroenterology at Apollo BGS Hospitals.

The AI-based system incorporated in Colonoscopy is one of the first in India and is available at very few centres. Apollo BGS Hospital, Mysuru, is proud to be one of them.

“Colonoscopy can detect small polyps in the large intestine and AI can accurately predict the risk of cancerous transformation of these polyps. It will be of immense benefit to patients undergoing routine Colonoscopy evaluation, spearheading the wave of innovation. All the latest technologies in Endoscopy and Colonoscopy are available at Apollo BGS Hospital,” says Dr. Rajkumar Wadhwa, who is also the Chief Gastroenterologist at Apollo BGS Hospital.

Another technology named LCI is incorporated in endoscopes to predict the presence of H. Pylori infection as the cause of gastritis and peptic ulcer. AI can transform healthcare and Apollo BGS Hospital has put Mysuru city on the map of innovative technology in the field of Gastroenterology.
