28th Conference of Speakers & Presiding Officers of Commonwealth

Mysore/Mysuru: Vidu. Smitha Srikiran, a resident of Saraswathipuram in Mysuru and an A-Grade flautist with All India Radio (Akashvani), gave a captivating performance at the Parliament of India recently.

The performance was part of the cultural programme organised during the 28th Conference of Speakers and Presiding Officers of the Commonwealth (CSPOC) 2026, held at Parliament House in New Delhi.

Smitha has been an empanelled artiste of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Government of India, since 2007.

The Parliament presentation featured the instrumental ensemble ‘The Gandharva Aatodyam,’ which took the audience on a musical journey through India’s rich cultural heritage. It also included Bharat Darshan, a 24-member instrumental ensemble deeply rooted in traditional Indian classical and folk music.

The performance was led by Sangeet Natak Akademi Awardee Chetan Kumar Joshi and incorporated vibrant folk-dance traditions under Nritya Melakam, highlighting India’s diverse artistic legacy while reflecting shared democratic values across the Commonwealth.

The programme was conceptualised and choreographed by Dr. Sandhya Purecha, Chairman, Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi and Raju Das, Secretary.

The artistes performed before an audience of dignitaries led by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and other distinguished guests.
