City girl commits suicide at Sullia Dental College Hostel

Mysuru: A city girl, who was pursuing her 1st year Dental course at Sullia Dental College, reportedly committed suicide at the hostel yesterday morning.

The deceased girl is Sumana (19), daughter of Ramesh, proprietor of a bakery on Cauvery Main Road in Gururaja Layout in city.

Sumana, who had passed with distinction in both SSLC and PUC, had taken up Dental course and was pursuing her 1st year Dental course at Sullia Dental College in Dakshina Kannada.

It is learnt that Sumana had called her parents over the phone yesterday morning and had told them that she had not written the exam properly and may get less marks to which her parents are said to have told her not to worry but study hard and get good marks in the next exam after which the call got disconnected.

Sumana, later went to her room in the hostel and allegedly committed suicide by hanging self. The incident came to light when her roommate returned and saw her hanging. The roommate immediately informed the hostel staff, who in turn called her parents and informed them  about the incident.

Sullia Police, who registered a case, shifted the body to a hospital, where post-mortem was conducted and the body was handed over to the family members who had rushed to Sullia by then, according to the Police.
