City Government Colleges bag National Young Leader Awards

The representatives of National Young Leader Award winning Institutions are seen with Swami Maheshathmanandaji of Sri Ramakrishna Ashrama-Mysuru, International athlete Arjun Devaiah Theethamada and others.

The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, University of Mysore and National Service Scheme had jointly organised a programme to present National Young Leader Programme Award (2015-16) at Humanities Auditorium, Manasagangothri, Mysore University campus, here this morning.

Swami Maheshathmanandaji of Sri Ramakrishna Ashrama, Mysuru and Arjun Devaiah Theethamada, International athlete, South Asian Games Gold Medallist, Student Counsellor and Motivational Guru, were the chief guests.

The awards, along with cash prizes, were distributed to four Government Colleges in city by Arjun Devaiah Theethamada, which were received by the Principals and NSS Officers of the respective Colleges.

The winners are: 1st prize: Government First Grade College, Kuvempunagar – Rs. 40,000; 2nd prize: Government First Grade College, Siddarthanagar – Rs. 35,000; 3rd prize: Maharani’s Science College – Rs. 30,000 and 4th prize: Yuvaraja’s College – Rs. 25, 000.

Speaking on the occasion, Arjun Devaiah said that youngsters would be motivated to achieve many things only when they are recognised  and encouraged.

Stating that awards are given for best performances, Arjun Devaiah said that those who have not won the awards could also achieve many things and added that awards would tell about the values of the winners, whereas experience was like getting higher education and called upon the students to learn from others’ mistakes to move forward to achieve  great things.

University of Mysore Acting Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dayananda Mane, Director of NSS Regional Centre (Bengaluru) Arun N. Pujar, Programme Co-ordinator Dr. B. Chandrashekar, University of Mysore Registrar Prof. N. Rajanna and NSS Officers were present.
