City hosts National Seminar on ‘Yoga for Healthy and Prolonged Life’ 

Mysuru:  A National Seminar on ‘Yoga for Healthy and Prolonged Life’ was organised at the Government Nature Cure and Yoga Medical College, Brindavan Extension on KRS Road in city on Wednesday. 

The seminar, organised as part of the 12th International Day of Yoga (IDY) celebrations, was inaugurated by District AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homoeopathy) Officer Dr. C. Renukadevi. 

Speaking after inaugurating the seminar, Dr. Renukadevi said that Yoga and Meditation are very useful practices which give mental peace and help us to lead a good quality and disciplined life in this age of technology.  

“Yoga helps us to lead a balanced life. Earlier, we used read about stress in science books. Now it has become a part of daily conversation. Hence, it is essential to provide guidance to our youths about stress management. Regular practice of Yoga helps a long way in this regard and also helps to have control on our mind. So, we need to create awareness among our youths about our traditional knowledge of Yoga for keeping good health,” opined Dr. Renukadevi emphasising the importance of  leading a disease-free life. 

Dr. K.V. Venkatakrishna, who presided over the event, explained methods of Nature Cure, their importance and also the relevance of the National Seminar. He also introduced the experts who are participating in the seminar. 

Dr. Srivatsa, Principal of Government Nature Cure and Yoga Medical College, who delivered inaugural address, said that by performing asanas and meditation we can lead a long and healthy life and said that there is only one Government Yoga Medical College in the country and it is in Mysuru city. People must make best use of this facility, he added. 

Dr. N.V. Krishnamurthy, Principal, Maharaja Institute of Ayurveda Medical Sciences and Hospital, Mandya, also spoke. Dr. K.V. Venkatakrishna, Dr. D.S. Bharatish, Dr. Gaganalakshmi and others were present on the occasion.
