City Police arrest conman from Ahmedabad for cheating medical seat aspirant

Mysuru: Vijayanagar Police have arrested a conman in Ahmedabad for allegedly cheating person in city to the tune of lakhs of rupees by promising to get a seat for his son at a Medical College.

The arrested is 46-year-old Mahesh Kumar Patel of Ahmedabad, who has now been remanded to Judicial custody.

Details: One Vipul Pandey, a resident of Railway Layout in Vijayanagar here, was searching online for a Medical College to get his son admitted to MBBS course, during which he came to know about Mahesh Kumar Patel.

Patel told Pandey that he was running Perfect Career company and he would get his (Pandey) son a MBBS seat at Kasturba Medical College in Manipal and had got lakhs of rupees transferred to his account from Pandey but did not get a seat, thus cheating the latter.

Realising that he was cheated, Pandey had lodged a complaint at Vijayanagar Police Station in this regard.

Vijayanagar Police, who took up the investigation, arrested Patel in Ahmedabad on Friday and brought him to city where he was produced before a Court which remanded him to  Judicial custody.
