Do you know how much traffic fine the Mysuru Police have collected in three days? A whopping Rs. 7,13,500!
In a combined operation that began on Mar. 2, the Devaraja and the Narasimharaja Traffic Police have clamped down on helmet-less driving, absence of Driving Licence (DL), insurance and other documents, boosting revenues. Interestingly, they are imposing fines on those people who hand over their vehicles to riders without DL.
The joint operation was assisted by over 30 Commandos from ‘Chamundi Force,’ personnel from Krishnaraja, Narasimharaja, Siddarthanagar, Devaraja and V.V. Puram Traffic Police limits and several Home Guards.
On Mar. 2, in their operation from 10 am to 5 pm, the Narasimharaja Police have booked 2,028 traffic violation cases including 219 persons for riding without helmet, 15 persons for not possessing valid insurance documents, 243 persons for not having DL, 29 persons for triple riding and 236 persons for handing over their vehicles to riders without DL. In all, the Narasimharaja Police collected Rs. 2,02,800 in 7 hours.
On Mar. 3, the Devaraja Traffic Police, during their drive from 10 am to 5 pm booked 2,757 traffic violation cases including 403 people for riding without helmet, 11 persons for not possessing valid insurance, 421 persons for not having driving licence and 418 persons for handing over their vehicles to riders without driving licence. 58 persons were booked for triple riding. In all, the Devaraja Police collected Rs. 2,75,700 in 7 hours. Continuing their drive against violations till 8 pm on that day, the Devaraja Police booked 152 persons and collected a fine of Rs. 15,200.
On Mar. 4, the Narasimharaja Police booked 1,366 traffic violation cases including 441 without helmet, 12 without insurance and 461 without driving licence. They also booked 452 persons for handing over their vehicles to riders without driving licence. They collected Rs. 1,36,600 from 10 am to 5 pm. On the same day, the Devaraja Traffic Police booked 832 cases in 3 hours and collected a fine of Rs. 83,200.
According to the Traffic Police said that they would seize vehicles and release them only after the rider brought the helmet and wore it in front of them. Similarly, those who do not have valid insurance documents and driving licences are asked to produce them before the Police to get their vehicles released.
