Matches Sept. 15, 2018 temperature
Mysuru: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) observatory in Mysuru city recorded a maximum temperature of 34.2°C yesterday (Sept. 6) matching the city’s highest-ever maximum temperature for September, recorded on Sept. 15, 2018.
The minimum temperature was 19.8°C, with no departure from normal. The city recorded no rainfall in the 24 hours ending yesterday. Relative humidity was 0 percent at 8.30 am and 48 percent at 5.30 pm.
Meteorologists said such a temperature rise is unusual for September, which generally marks the transition towards cooler conditions with the monsoon.
Across Karnataka, subdued monsoon conditions are likely to continue on Sept. 7, with mostly sunny to partly cloudy or overcast skies and generally dry weather.
Light to moderate rain is expected at some places. Above-normal maximum temperatures are likely to persist over parts of the interior districts, bringing a feel more typical of March.
