City all set to create Guinness Record on Yoga Day

Mysuru: After attempting to create a Guinness Record for longest yoga chain this morning, the District Administration is all geared up to facilitate creating another Guinness Record for highest  number of people performing yoga at one single venue on the occasion of International Day of Yoga on June 21 at Mysore Race Course.

Addressing the press persons at the Mysore Palace Board this morning, DC Randeep said that a total of seven gates will be made available for the participants to enter the Mysore Race Course as early as 5 am.

He said the participants must wear white T-shirt along with pants (for men) and chudidar (for women), yoga mat, a gymkhana, bed spread or a turkey towel according to their convenience.

DC added, those participating in the event must perform yoga seriously as more attempt for the Guinness Record will not be considered if 10 percent or more of the total number of participants do not perform asanas correctly and said the above mentioned materials was mandatory for the attempt to be considered for the record.

The authorities have also arranged for breakfast and drinking water for the participants on June 21. City Police will also provide tight security to prevent any untoward incidents.

On entering the premises each participant will be given a bar-coded ticket which will be scanned and later collected back. This is to get a count of the total number of participants. For those bringing bulk participants, the tickets will be issued tomorrow (June 20) at the Race Club premises.

DCP N. Rudramuni, Department of Food and Civil Supplies Senior Deputy Director Dr. K. Rameshwarappa and other officials were present.
