City to host 22nd Natl. Chess Championship of the Deaf

The 22nd National Chess Championship of the Deaf has been organised at Rahul Convention Hall in Vishweshwaranagar here from Jan. 8 to 11, under the joint aegis of Mysore District Deaf Association, Mysuru, Karnataka Sports Federation of the Deaf, Bengaluru, All India Sports Council of the Deaf, New Delhi and Lions Club of Mysore Nisarga and Mayuri.

More than 200 players from 22 districts including international players like Aadish (Mysuru), junior girl Yashswini (Mangaluru), Nazmeen Rampur (Dharwad), Ranjini Ramanujam are expected to take part in the Championship which will be officiated by Nagendra (arbiter) from Mysuru.

The Championship will be inaugurated at 3 pm tomorrow (Jan. 8) in the presence of DC Abhiram G. Sankar, Lions Dr. Nagaraj V. Bairy and N. Nanjundaswamy, District Co-op. Union President H.V. Rajeev, Mysuru District Journalists Association President C.K. Mahendra, Rahul Convention Hall Owner S. Murthy as the chief guests. Karnataka Sports Federation of the Deaf Gen. Secretary V. Kumar and All India Sports Council of the Deaf Gen. Secretary G. Suresh Kumar will be the guests.
